Chennai | August 2026
The vision behind the Happy Doctor Marathon 2026 took another meaningful step forward with a meeting with the Hon’ble Health Minister of Tamil Nadu, Dr. K. G. Arun Raj.
The meeting provided an opportunity to share the purpose behind the initiative and discuss a larger vision: creating greater awareness around the well-being of doctors and building a culture of gratitude towards the medical professionals who dedicate their lives to caring for others.
Recognising the People Behind the White Coat
Doctors spend their lives caring for patients, families, and communities. Yet, behind every white coat is a professional carrying immense physical, emotional, and mental responsibilities.
The Happy Doctor Marathon was conceived from a simple belief — those who care for everyone deserve to be cared for, appreciated, and supported too.
The initiative aims to take this message beyond a single event and encourage a broader movement where gratitude becomes a meaningful part of healthcare culture.
A Meeting of Shared Purpose
The meeting was particularly significant as it brought together individuals who share a deep connection with the medical community and a commitment to the well-being of doctors.
Chitra Baskar was accompanied by Dr. V. Chockalingam, a respected senior physician and former faculty member of the Hon’ble Minister during his MBBS years; Dr. Saravanan Vedhagiri Founder of Girishwari Hospitals, whose continued commitment to the mission has been instrumental; and Dr. R. Siva Prakash, whose support reflects the wider healthcare community’s involvement in the cause.
Their presence added a deeper dimension to the conversation and reinforced the importance of bringing healthcare professionals, leaders, organisations, and society together around the well-being of doctors.
Building a Culture of Gratitude
The Happy Doctor Marathon is envisioned as more than a marathon.
It is an expression of gratitude.
Through the initiative, the team hopes to encourage society to pause and recognise the people who stand beside us during some of the most difficult moments of our lives.
The larger vision is to help create a healthcare ecosystem where every doctor feels valued, respected, and supported.
The encouragement received during the meeting further strengthened the belief that meaningful change becomes possible when government, healthcare leaders, industry, and society come together with a shared purpose.
The Journey Ahead
The meeting marks another important step in the journey of the Happy Doctor Marathon 2026.
With the vision of building a nationwide culture of gratitude towards doctors, the initiative looks forward to bringing more people and organisations together in support of the medical community.
This is only the beginning.
Together, let us build a happier healthcare ecosystem — one where gratitude is not occasional, but becomes a part of healthcare culture.
